Members
The North Strabane Township Zoning Hearing Board is a quasi-judicial body comprised of 5 members and up to 3 alternate members as required by the Municipalities Planning Code.

Duties
The primary purpose of the board is to assure fair and equitable application and administration of the Township’s zoning ordinance by hearing appeals and granting relief from the literal enforcement of the ordinance in certain hardship situations. Specifically, the Zoning Hearing Board has exclusive jurisdiction to hear and decide the following:
- Appeals from a determination by the municipal engineer or zoning officer with respect to the administration of any flood plain or flood hazard ordinance
- Appeals from the determination of any officer or agency charged with the administration of transfers of development rights or performance density provisions of the zoning ordinance
- Appeals from the determination of the zoning officer
- Appeals from the determination of the zoning officer or municipal engineer in the administration of any land use ordinance regarding sedimentation and erosion or stormwater management not involving subdivision, land development, or planned residential development application
- Appeals from the zoning officers determination regarding a preliminary opinion
- Application for special exceptions
- Applications for variances
- Procedural challenges to a land use ordinance
- Substantive challenges to the validity of any land use ordinance, except curative amendments
