The Canon-McMillan School District is a unification of Canonsburg, Cecil Township and North Strabane Township schools. The district's 28,000 residents live in 57 square miles about 20 miles southwest of Pittsburgh.
With an enrollment of approximately 4,900 students, the district educates its students in seven elementary schools housing classes for kindergarten through fourth grades, two intermediate schools with grades 5-6, a middle schools with grades 7-8, and a high school, grades 9-12. All of the buildings within the district have been recently renovated.
In addition, the Canon-McMillan Administration Building on North Jefferson Avenue, Canonsburg, is home to the district's central administration and the location of regular, public meetings of the Board of School directors.
A full-service stadium with track and locker rooms is adjacent to the Administration Building. The district's Support Facility for transportation and central supply services is near Canon-McMillan High School.
More than 500 faculty, staff and administrators serve the district. Parent organizations are an active part of the district providing special programs for the students and support for district programs.
There are several industries and businesses located in or near the Canon-McMillan School District. Sarris Candies is perhaps one of the better known businesses with nationwide recognition. South Point Industrial Park is a rapidly growing area with many multimillion dollar businesses and professional service providers located here.
Eighty percent of graduating seniors go on to further their education in various colleges, universities and technical schools. Our district publications—Highlights and Spotlight have received statewide recognition from the Pennsylvania School Board Association.
