2020 Canonsburg-Houston Joint Authority Rate Increase
The Canonsburg-Houston Joint Authority (CHJA) sewage treatment plant located in Canonsburg that treats the vast majority of North Strabane Township sewage, proposed an increase in EXCESS OF 100% for its portion of their sewer treatment rates for our residents and the adjacent Municipalities in 2018 due to an additional bond borrowing for project and plant expansion, operation, and improvements.
Through Court Intervention the increase was REDUCED BY OVER 75% in accordance with the following schedule: CHJA January 1, 2020 rate $5.76 + $1.34 = $7.10 / 1,000 gallons of usage. Please note that the NSTMA portion of the billing rate will remain the same at $4.07 / 1,000 gallons and NSTMA will not increase its portion of the billing rate in 2020.
HOW MUCH WILL YOUR BILL INCREASE IN 2020?
THIS MEANS THAT FOR AN AVERAGE NORTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP HOUSEHOLD, YOU CAN EXPECT YOUR QUARTERLY SEWAGE BILL TO INCREASE BY ABOUT $20.00 / QUARTER IN 2020.
